Biography

Perhaps the highlight of my life aside from family is the time I spent in Campus Evangelism. It was intense, but a mountaintop experience. Working with great people across the country was a real blessing.

In high school I was challenged by M. Norvel Young, then minister of the Broadway Church of Christ, to spend at least two years "in full-time church work." After several years in the business world the opportunity came to fulfill my commitment as an associate minister of the Broadway Church where I grew up.

It was during this time that Jim Bevis (who occupied the office next to mine) and I became friends and were captured by the Campus Evangelism vision. I simply helped Jim put the flesh and sinew on his passion for the college campus.

I left CE in the spring of 1969 to re-enter the business field and three years later became a Burger King franchisee for the next 25 years. In 1997, I retired and since then have been interested in doing things like this blog and my long-time hobby, photography.

Our family became Presbyterians in about 1981 and since then we have been heavily involved in our local congregation.
